Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct and Guidelines

As the Parent or Legal Guardian of a child involved with the Tanque Verde Soccer Club (TVSC), I agree to abide by the following guidelines below:

  • Promote the emotional and physical well-being of the athletes ahead of any personal desire to win.
  • Help your player to focus on the performance and not always the result.
  • Remember that your child plays soccer for his/her enjoyment, not yours.
  • Do not criticize your child's coach to your child or other parents; if you are not happy with the coach you should raise the issue with the coach.
  • Abide by the 24 hour cool down period, before addressing with concerns you may have with my child's coach or club administrator.
  • Make every attempt to follow the clubs chain of command policy to resolve my concerns.
  • Make every effort to get my child to all scheduled practices and games on time and fully prepared.
  • All players need to abide by and follow the TVSC uniform/dress code policy at all times
  • Provide support for coaches and officials working with the athletes to provide a positive experience for all.
  • Demand my athlete treat all players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex or ability.
  • Treat all players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators with dignity and in language, attitude, behavior, and mannerisms.
  • Inform the coach of any physical disability or ailments that may affect the safety of my athlete or the safety of others.
  • Parents must not coach from the pitch side during matches and training.
  • Parents should not criticize their child on any part of the player's game, leave this to the coaches since it may cause confusion and erode the player's confidence.
  • Be your child's best fan and support him/her unconditionally. Don't withdraw your love when he/she performs below their standard.
  • On transporting your child home, please be supporting and always focus on the positive aspects of their game.
  • Develop a responsibility in your player to pack their own kit, clean boots and bring along water bottle full of water only.
  • Respect the facilities we play on. Pick up after every training session and match.
  • Encourage your child to speak with the coach. If your child is having difficulties in training or games, or can't attend training etc. encourage him to speak directly to the coaches. This "responsibility taking" is a big part of becoming a mature person. By handling off the field tasks, your child is claiming ownership of all aspects of the game.
  • Monitor your child's stress level at home. Keep an eye on the player to make sure that they are handling stress effectively from the various activities of life.
  • Monitor eating and sleeping habits. Be sure that your child is eating the correct foods. Players should be in bed at a reasonable hour on the night before a game and early enough on other nights to ensure that adequate rest is being taken.
  • Help your child keep her priorities correct. He/she needs to maintain a focus on schoolwork, relationships, and other things in life besides soccer
  • Do not criticize the opponents, their parents, coaches or the referee.
